“Dream It, Be It” Committee Update

The Dream It, Be It committee has been hard at work!  Under the leadership of Fam Moulton, committee chair, they have been meeting every other week in order to be ready for the March 16th workshop date.

What is “Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls?”

It is a mentoring workshop that gives girls the tools they need to achieve their education and career goals, empowering them to break cycles of poverty, violence, and abuse.  By reaching girls while they are still young, we not only can help them stay healthy and safe in the short term, but we can reduce the number of women in crisis in the future. Putting them on a path will help them realize their dreams.

Our workshop will target girls ages 14 to 18, and attendance will be limited to 12.  We will use the SIA-provided guideline for the workshop consisting of seven sessions, each roughly an hour long.  The session topics includes discussions regarding Discovering Your Dreams, Exploring Careers, and Rising Above Obstacles, just to name a few.  Check out the members only information on the SIA website if you are curious about the DIBI program, or talk with one of the committee members who are getting very excited for this project to come to fruition!

Please reach out to any eligible girls who may benefit from this workshop, and stay tuned for a supply list of needed items.  We have contacted local schools to distribute information and applications and are still seeking applications for attendees!

Thanks for your hard work and dedication to the project, Fam and fellow committee members!
